2019 KMHS Photography Competition
The 2020 yearbook will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Kanata-March Horticultural Society. Beautiful plants and gardens are everywhere - members are encouraged to photograph their gardens, walk their neighbourhoods, visit parks or submit photos from holiday destinations.
All photos must feature plants, gardens or scenes with horticultural elements. Photos celebrating gardens in all seasons are encouraged.
Class 1 - “Member’s Gardens”: A garden or container garden belonging to a 2019 Kanata-March member, it can be your own garden or another member’s garden (if not your own garden, please include the KMHS gardener’s name for yearbook purposes)
Class 2 - “Home Sweet Home”: A photo of a plant or garden taken at the Old Town Hall, the Kanata-March meeting place for the last 49 years!
Class 3 - “Art in the Garden”: A garden or container garden containing an object or objects which add interest or whimsy such as statues, bird house or feeder, mobile, wind chime or other decorative elements
Class 4 - “Nature’s Bounty”: Herbs, fruit or vegetables that tantalize the eyes…
Class 5 - “Garden Visitors”: Insects, animals or birds visiting a garden
Class 6 - “Water in the Garden”: A pond, bird bath, fountain, rain barrel or other water holding object, or a flower, leaf or garden vegetable after a rain shower
For all categories, the first and second place photographs will be featured on the monthly pages of the 2020 KMHS Yearbook.
The cover photo for the 2020 yearbook will be the first place winner for Class 2 “Home Sweet Home”, taken at the Old Town Hall.
Our judge for the 2019 competition will be Anne Johnston from the Ottawa Horticultural Society.
Please choose photos that were taken within the last three years if possible.
